"Undertaking a work placement with Event Cornwall allowed me to be highly involved in the planning and execution of Music Truro, enabling me to expand my knowledge of the events industry from a new perspective. Claire, Amy and the team were really welcoming, friendly and encouraging, which really helped the whole experience to be enjoyable!"
Laura Bevans, WEX on MusicTruro 2009
We offer a range of up to 40 work experience and internship opportunities each year. Placements are always tailored to the individual and what they want to achieve. In our view, work experience is a two-way street and it is very important to us that it is a positive experience for the individual as well as giving us vital staffing support for our events.
Work experience placements can include:
- planning & event development
- time management
- logistics scheduling
- event marketing
- client liaison
- customer service
- front of house & box office
- research
- sourcing suppliers
- information co-ordination
Work placements can run from 1 week to 14 weeks and may run as a solid block or drip-feed of half a day a week. It's always tailored to the individual's schedule and learning needs.
Internships are more substantial and are developed with the individual, usually around one specific event.
We are seeking pro-active people who want to learn and develop their skills in event management. For details of the placements and application information for events across Devon, Cornwal and the Isles of Scilly, please email Sammy on sammy@eventcornwall.co.uk.

"I had the pleasure of witnessing a true professional at work. I received some invaluable advice on many levels regarding my project ideas and personal approach. Simply sharing time together, with which Claire was most generous and patient, allowed me to learn so much regarding communication, confidence, ambition, organisation and professionalism.
Christine Haydon, work placement via RiO in November 2008
